Can chickenpox appear on the eyeball?

My 6 yr old son has chicken pox - he is covered bless him!! He has the corner of one of his eyes which is bloodshot. Can they appear on the actual white of the eye? His tonsills are also very swollen - so he hasnt had anything to eat and bearly any fluids for a few days due to not being able to swallow. Is there anything i can do to make drinking more comfortable for him? I have been giving calpol and i have smothered him in calomine lotion too! Thanks.
