Is stretching the rules for disposable lenses really bad?

i have monthly disposables and i end up wearing them for 2 months or longer because i lose track of time lots. i never sleep with them on but i wear them all day every day because i don't have a pair of glasses currently. As soon as i get up in the morning i prop myself on my elbow and pop them in and don't wash my hands or anything. i let the lenses soak in solution over night though. The only time i put new solution in the case is when its looking a little low or the solution looks really filthy. My eyes get bloodshot lots and hurt most mornings when i put them in, but when i've gone to the optometrist they say my eyes are fine for the most part not wearing them for quite as long will help. I'm worried that it might cause an infection or something bad. Is what i'm doing really stupid, or do people commonly misuse their lenses? Is this wrecking my eyes?
