My Dad has had a fever more about 5 days now. What's wrong with him?

He has had a fever for about 5 days. He went to the Emergency Room and the doctors have no idea what is wrong with him. All they gave him was some medicine. The fever includes headaches, high temperature, and fatigue. We've tried to give him fluids and rest but nothing is working. Any ideas or similar situations?
