What is it called when your always hyper and never tired?

Ok so my friend said he has something like "88hd ? " what is that? He always hyper , happy , and always laughing because true he is too funny and sometimes he just laughs at himself at his jokes Lol he is crazy but when he was a kid he had to take medicine to calm down but he doesnt anymore because he controls himself more now that he is a teenager but still he always happy and super hyper not kidding. And what is this? A syndrome a symptom or what? What is it called ? , So I can learn more about this. He said he dont take his medicine no more because it just makes him feel depressed . What is the proper name of this , many kids in school have it and regulary go to the nurse to calm down and take their medicine.
