Why does my eye turn bloodshot and itch when ever i touch it.?

For about two weeks now i have been waking up and my eye (only my left eye) has been bloodshot and will be itching, also if i touch my eye at all (only the left the right eye is fine) it will turn bloodshot and will tear a lot and will itch really bad. It will stay like that for a few hours and then it will feel better. i have tried every kind of eye drops but none of them help. Whats wrong with it?
