15 month old daughter stomach problem?

My 15 month old daughter has been having stomach problems for over a week. She has throw up once every morning for a few days and has diarrhea (about once or twice a day). I took her to the doctor and she has an ear infection and they said to stop giving her milk for a few days. It was impossible to give her fluids before a nap and bed time without milk (she would refuse) so I mixed 6 ounces of milk with 2 ounces of water. Her diarrhea and vomiting has some what improved. Should I cut out milk totally? She drinks lactaid whole milk. Just don't know what to do when she refuses fluids. She only takes pedialite or gatorade if I give it to her in a medicine dropper.
